Meet Mitchell Gossman, M.D. of Eye Associates Of Central Minnesota

Dr. Gossman was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, but he was brought home two days later to the family farm near Preston, Minnesota. At age 2 he moved with the family to St. Paul. He attended elementary school at Homecroft Elementary in St. Paul and later moved to Apple Valley, Minnesota. There he attended Apple Valley High School where he graduated as co-valedictorian. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Biochemistry and Genetics & Cell Biology at the University of Minnesota, was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated summa cum laude.

He completed his medical degree at the University of Minnesota with highest honors and election to the medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha.

From there he completed a fellowship in Ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine and completed a fellowship in the subspecialty of neuro-ophthalmology. He was selected to be an Board Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Gossman provides surgical, medical, and routine ophthalmology care in St. Cloud for his patients from throughout the Midwest. He specializes in cataracts, glaucoma, dry eyes, macular degeneration, corneal disease, double vision, and sorting out difficult cases that have been unexplained. Second opinions, new patients, and routine eye exams are welcome. He is glad to work alongside your local optometrist.
Dr. Gossman enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He enjoys computers, woodworking, photography and movie-making, amateur astronomy, and is a commercial pilot who flies a Mooney.

Meet Melanie Thares, OD of Eye Associates Of Central Minnesota

Dr. Melanie Thares grew up in the Saint Cloud, Minnesota area and graduated from Saint Cloud Technical High School. 

Following graduation, she attended the College of Saint Benedict / Saint John’s University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. 

Also, while completing her degree, she had the opportunity to study abroad in both Spain and the Galapagos Islands. She then went on to complete her Doctorate degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Philadelphia, PA.
From there he completed a fellowship in Ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine and completed a fellowship in the subspecialty of neuro-ophthalmology. He was selected to be an Board Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Thares is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Minnesota Optometric Association. 

Outside of the office, Dr. Thares enjoys spending her time listening to live music, hiking, crafting, traveling, and most importantly spending time with her family. Dr. Thares has been to 4 of the 7 continents and has a goal to be able to travel to all of them some day.
